Net Zero Teesside: where to stay near the Redcar site

Net Zero Teesside Power is a gas-fired power station with carbon capture, being built with the Northern Endurance Partnership's pipeline and storage network on the Teesworks site at the former Redcar steelworks. The project reached financial close in December 2024, construction began in 2025 and the plant is due to operate from 2028.
Who is on site
Teesworks has said it expects more than 2,000 construction workers at peak and has provided a park and ride to move them on and off the site. This is a multi-contractor project, so the workforce is a mix of local labour and specialist teams who travel in for the length of their package.
Where to stay
- Grangetown, Eston and Normanby: between Middlesbrough and the site, under twenty minutes away.
- Redcar: the town on the doorstep of the site.
- Middlesbrough: the widest choice of housing, shops and places to eat.
