Crew houses in Bedfordshire, run by one operator

Trades working in Bedfordshire need proper houses within a short drive of site, and the county does not have enough of them. Renovest sets those houses up and runs them: one contact, one invoice, and a property team that answers the phone. If you own a house in the county, we will take it on.

Two ways in

Whether you need beds for a team or you own a house in Bedfordshire, there is a clear route.

For companies on the ground in Bedford

Sourcing beds for dozens of people across a shifting programme is a job in itself. We do the sourcing, the set-up and the running, so your team gets one contact and one bill.

Step 1

Send the brief

Headcount, start date, how long, shift pattern, van parking, single rooms or sharing, and any duty-of-care requirements. A rough brief is fine to start.

Step 2

Options come back

What we have, what we can set up, and a per-house rate. Where we have nothing in the right spot we say so and offer the nearest alternative.

Step 3

Confirmation pack

Full address, dates, bed plan, parking, check-in method, house rules, cancellation terms and the emergency number, in one document your team can forward.

Step 4

Crew moves in

Self check-in with a key safe, instructions sent the day before. Cleaning weekly or on departure. Extensions handled with a phone call.

How we house a team

Crews are placed across houses by bed count, parking and drive time, not by whatever is free. Every quote lists the exact bed configuration and we count sleeping places honestly: one person per single or double bed, two per zip-and-link, and sofa beds are never counted.

An illustrative allocation for a team of eighteen: a five-bed house in Wootton sleeping seven with driveway parking for three vans; a four-bed in Kempston sleeping six with two spaces; a three-bed in Stewartby sleeping five with van access. All a short drive from each other, one invoice covering the three.

Rates are quoted per house per night or per week and depend on size, spec and length of stay. We do not publish a headline per-person figure because it would be a guess; send the brief and you get a real number.

Bed typeCounts as
Single bed1 person
Double or king bed1 person
Zip-and-link (splits into two singles)2 people
Sofa bed0, never counted
Two standards. Crew: clean, practical houses sleeping four to eight, shared living space, weekly clean, parking, Wi-Fi. Management: higher-spec houses and apartments with a desk in every room and space for evening work or a site meeting. Ask for either or both.

South and west of Bedford: Wootton, Wixams, Kempston, Stewartby, Great Denham and Marston Moretaine. Wixams is a new town still being built. Kempston and Great Denham are established Bedford suburbs with supermarkets and family houses with driveways.

Bedford and the villages: Bedford town centre has the station, the shops and the evening life. Cranfield, Ampthill and Flitwick are villages and small towns with pubs and a supermarket, popular with crews who want quiet.

Further out: Milton Keynes, Biggleswade and St Neots widen the net when the nearer towns are full.

Our nearest homes today are in Milton Keynes, with more in Deanshanger and St Neots. Bedfordshire itself is where we are taking on houses now, which is why the owner section below matters.

What a crew house needs, so you know what we look for

If your house has most of these it is a candidate. If it does not, we can usually add what is missing.

Proper beds

Singles, doubles or zip-and-link. Sofa beds do not count as sleeping places.

Van parking

A driveway that fits a van, not just a car. Where it is on-street we say so.

Kitchen and laundry

A working kitchen for self-catering and a washing machine, ideally a dryer.

Wi-Fi and heat

Reliable broadband, central heating that reaches 18 degrees throughout, hot water all day.

Good road access

Close to the A421 or the A6, so a crew can be on site early without crossing town.

Certificates, or none yet

Gas Safety, EICR and an EPC. If you do not have them we arrange them.

The standard every house is run to

These are the things agencies and procurement teams ask us to evidence, and the things owners can expect us to keep in order.

Safety

Current Gas Safety certificate, EICR in date, smoke alarms on every floor, carbon monoxide alarm where there is gas, fire risk assessment. Certificates sent on request.

Insurance

Public liability cover on every house we operate. Owners keep their own buildings insurance and we tell their insurer what the house is used for.

Cleaning and linen

Professional clean between every stay and weekly on longer stays. Hotel-standard linen and towels supplied and laundered by us.

Contact

An emergency number for every house. Check-in instructions sent the day before arrival, with the key safe code.

Honest listings

Bed counts are real beds. Parking is described as it actually is.

Accountability

Because we run the houses ourselves, there is no host to chase and no platform in the middle. If something is wrong, the person who fixes it is the person you called.

Questions we get asked

Can you house twenty or more across several houses?

Yes. That is the normal shape of a crew booking. We spread the team by bed count and parking, and you get one confirmation pack covering every house.

Do you invoice the company, with a PO number?

Yes. Per house or consolidated monthly, with your purchase order and project code on the invoice. BACS as standard.

What if the programme slips?

Extensions are agreed by phone and confirmed in writing. Cancellation terms are on the confirmation pack, and we are realistic about dates that move.

Monday to Friday only?

Either. Many crews go home at weekends and pay for five nights; others stay seven. Tell us which.

I own a house. Do I have to deal with the workers?

No. On guaranteed rent you deal with us and only us. On management we handle every guest contact.

Can I use my house when it is not booked?

On guaranteed rent, no: it is let to us for the term. On management, yes, block the dates you want.

What if a guest damages the house?

Guests are identified and their employer is on the booking. We inspect between stays and repair at the guest's cost, and on guaranteed rent the condition promise is ours regardless.

Do you need a property in Bedford itself?

No. Bedford, Kempston, Wixams, Wootton, Stewartby, Marston Moretaine, Cranfield, Ampthill and Flitwick all work, and so do Milton Keynes and Biggleswade.
